The activities of the Turkish Accreditation Agency, which has been actively participating in the work to establish the EN/AS 9100 series certification and accreditation infrastructure within SAHA Istanbul (Defence, Aerospace and Space Cluster Association) and is one of the important stakeholders of MIHENK¹ (National Aviation Industry Committee), have gained international recognition.
This development, which removes one of the obstacles in the way of Turkish aerospace and defence industry products and services gaining a larger share in the international market, has greatly reduced the external dependency of Turkish manufacturers in the field of conformity assessment.
TURKAK’s Activities Successfully Completing Assessments Approved Unanimously
TURKAK was subjected to office and witness assessments by the European Aerospace Quality Group (EAQG), the European sector of the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG). Upon completion of the assessment reports, TURKAK’s activities were unanimously approved and accepted at the EAQG Certification Oversight Team (COT) meeting held in Zurich on 21 September 2022. In this way, TURKAK became the 14th accreditation body in the world to be authorised and recognised to accredit certification bodies in the AS 9100 series (AS 9100, AS 9110 and AS 9120) Aerospace and Defence Industry Quality Management Systems (HUS QMS).
What is AS9100 Series?
Developed by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG), EN/AS 9100 series standards, which are quality management system standards for the Aerospace and Defence (A&D) Industry, provide a harmonised approach to certification to ensure quality improvement and process control throughout the entire supply chain. The ICOP (Industry Controlled Other Party) Certification Programme developed by the IAQG is one of the most important programmes being implemented to meet the needs of the HUS industry for EN/AS 9100 series standards.
