TÜRKAK’s Contribution to Circular Economy and Zero Waste Targets: New Accreditation Programme for Traceability of Plastics Recycling

TÜRKAK accredited the Certification Programme for the traceability of plastics in the recycling process and verification of recycled content within the framework of its activities carried out in line with sustainability and circular economy targets.

While the EN 15343 standard ensures traceability and verification of recycled content in the recycling process of plastics, the ISO 22095 standard provides a general framework applicable to all sectors, ensuring reliability and transparency in supply chains.

This accreditation step of TÜRKAK supports the objectives of the Zero Waste Project, which is carried out under the auspices of Mrs. Emine Erdoğan, wife of our President, in terms of circular economy, reduction of waste at source and efficient use of resources. Thus, the recycling of plastic waste will be supported more effectively, the sustainable management of resources will be strengthened and the visibility of our country in global environmental policies will increase.

With this accreditation, TÜRKAK aims to verify recycled content declarations in an independent and impartial manner, to audit chain responsibility mechanisms and to increase the reliability and competitiveness of the Turkish industry in the international market. Thus, certification bodies operating in Turkey will be able to issue internationally recognised certificates in a wide range from recycled plastics to sustainable raw materials. This will both strengthen the element of trust in our exports and directly contribute to our country's goals of combating climate change and sustainability.

Turkey's compliance with the European Green Deal and the EU Circular Economy Package will also be supported by traceability of plastics in the recycling process and verification of recycled content based on EN 15343 and ISO 22095 standards.
