TÜRKAK Celebrates World Accreditation Day

TÜRKAK, as the sole national accreditation body in the accreditation of conformity assessment bodies in Turkey, celebrates the thirteenth World Accreditation Day, which is held this year.

The celebration is held as a hybrid event this year, because of the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic. It focuses on promoting the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations on the basis of “People”, “Planet” and “Prosperity” and showing how accreditation contributes to the achievement of these goals.

The event, organized as part of the IPA-II Project, continues with the participation of the managers of international regional and umbrella accreditation coorporations, EA President Maureen Logghe, IAF Chair Emanuele Riva and ILAC Vice Chair Maribel Lopez, as well as managers and employees of public institutions and organizations, managers of accredited organizations, assessors and technical experts.

The event, which started with the opening speech of TÜRKAK Secretary General Banu Müderrisoğlu, aims to raise awareness of accreditation both in Turkey and in international environments, within the framework of "TÜRKAK's Capacity Building Project".

In her speech, Müderrisoğlu reminded that the World Accreditation Day, which is normally celebrated on June 9 every year, is celebrated on different dates this year due to pandemic conditions. Müderrisoğlu stated that she is proud to serve the United Nations 2030 Global Goals as a full member of EA, ILAC and IAF in all scopes and the sole national accreditation body of Turkey.

The event will continue for 2 days on 24-25 November 2021 with presentations by international speakers on how accreditation supports the Global Goals.
