The Azerbaijan Accreditation Center (AZAK) has achieved a significant milestone in the field of international accreditation by signing a Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) with APAC (Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation) under the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories standard.
This agreement, which signifies the international recognition of AZAK's technical competence and the mutual acceptance of its issued certificates, will allow conformity assessment documents issued by testing and calibration laboratories accredited by AZAK to be acknowledged in global trade. This development will enhance Azerbaijan’s active engagement in the international accreditation system and strengthen its credibility in global markets.
Within the framework of the “Consultancy and Training Project” conducted by TÜRKAK between 2022 and 2024 for a period of 27 months, numerous training and technical consultancy activities were carried out. These efforts aimed to review and improve AZAK’s accreditation processes, enhance the competence of its personnel and assessors, strengthen its management system, develop documentation, and build its institutional capacity.
In a congratulatory letter sent by TÜRKAK Secretary General Ms. Banu Müderrisoğlu to AZAK Director General Mr. Emin Zeynalov on the occasion of the MRA signing with APAC, it was emphasized that this achievement not only reflects AZAK’s technical competence and alignment with international accreditation principles, but also represents a major step toward Azerbaijan’s enhanced visibility and active role in the global quality infrastructure.
The letter also highlighted that the “Consultancy and Training Project” implemented between TÜRKAK and AZAK—whose primary aim was to review and improve AZAK’s accreditation operations—stands as a concrete and lasting success of the technical cooperation between the two institutions.
