Müderrisoğlu: Accreditation is the Greatest Power in Overcoming Technical Barriers to Trade

Secretary General Banu Müderrisoğlu attended the World Accreditation Day event organized by TÜRKLAB and spoke as follows: “Accreditation is the greatest power in overcoming technical barriers to trade.”

Former TÜRKAK Secretary General Atakan Baştürk also took part as a speaker in the webinar organized under the title of “The Past, Present, and Future of the Accreditation and Conformity Assessment Sector in Our Country and Its Effects on the National Economy” and moderated by TÜRKLAB Founding Board Chairman Dr. Ömer Güzel.

“Accreditation Should Not Be Seen as a Bureaucratic Obstacle”

Beginning her speech by congratulating all participants on World Accreditation Day, Müderrisoğlu emphasized that accreditation plays an important role in increasing economic development and welfare by removing technical barriers to international trade. Underlining that the accreditation system, which plays a leading role in ensuring product reliability and quality, should not be seen as a bureaucratic obstacle or expense, Müderrisoğlu stated that this system should be considered as a tool developed to increase trust in our products and services.

Müderrisoğlu said that thanks to the works of TÜRKAK, which was established in 1999 as a requirement of the Customs Union, Turkish products and services can enter the European Union market more easily, and thus Turkish companies can gain more market share in Europe. Stating that they have undertaken important works in the last 5 years with the awareness of this important mission as TÜRKAK, Müderrisoğlu conveyed that the works they have carried out in the fields of information processing infrastructure and digitalization are also followed with appreciation and admiration by the accreditation bodies of other countries. Stating that TÜRKAK, one of the top 10 accreditation bodies in the world, also assumes a pioneering role in the international arena in terms of new areas, Müderrisoğlu said that our Institution, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary and has passed a quarter century with its solid roots, makes significant contributions to the sector both nationally and internationally.

“TÜRKAK Continues Its Successful March with the Maturity Level It Has Reached”

TÜRKAK Former Secretary General Atakan Baştürk spoke about the historical development of TÜRKAK and its accreditation infrastructure in his speech. Baştürk stated that the accreditation system in our country began to take shape with the establishment of TÜRKAK with the “Law on the Establishment and Duties of the Turkish Accreditation Agency” enacted in 1999, and that TÜRKAK’s international recognition in all areas as of 2007 was an important turning point for our country. Baştürk stated that today, TÜRKAK can provide accreditation services not only in Türkiye but also to other countries abroad when needed; and emphasized that TÜRKAK’s successful march should be appreciated.
