Through Cert-Search, the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) database, comprehensive information about certifications issued by certification bodies operating in quality management systems can now be accessed and verified.
On October 26, 2023, the IAF published IAF MD 28, titled "IAF Mandatory Document for Data Exchange and Maintenance of the IAF Database," establishing new policies for the database. With the international launch of Cert-Search, this user-friendly global database enables users to verify management system certifications. For instance, certifications based on ISO 9001 for quality management or ISO 27001 for information security management can be checked through the system.
Companies, users, and stakeholders can now ensure visibility and validity of certifications issued by certification bodies accredited by accreditation bodies that are signatories to the IAF Multilateral Recognition Agreement (MLA), promoting trust within global supply chains.
The IAF MD 28 document outlines requirements for managing the IAF database, including the scope, types of accreditation and certifications to be entered, and necessary details. Accreditation bodies and certification bodies are required to adhere to these guidelines.
The IAF routinely provides technical updates on the database implementation to certification body managers via webinars.
