First Accreditation Granted for Product Carbon Footprint Verification

TÜRKAK has granted its first accreditation under ISO 14067, an international environmental management system standard that defines the requirements for calculating and reporting the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF).

Originally published in 2013 and revised in 2018, ISO 14067 provides a globally recognized framework for the scientific calculation, reporting, and verification of greenhouse gas emissions caused throughout a product’s life cycle. This comprehensive approach covers all stages—from raw material acquisition and production to distribution, usage, and end-of-life disposal.

Globally Recognized Carbon Footprint Accounting

With this first accreditation granted by TÜRKAK, carbon footprint assessments of products manufactured in Türkiye can now be conducted using internationally recognized methodologies and reported with enhanced reliability.

The ISO 14067 accreditation contributes to:

  • Transparent and trustworthy implementation of product carbon footprint (CFP) assessments,

  • Facilitating environmental performance evaluations under the EU Green Deal,

  • Providing reliable data for sustainability reporting and climate action,

  • Enhancing environmental competitiveness for exporting companies.

The European Green Deal and Türkiye

As the EU Green Deal introduces decisive criteria such as carbon border tax and sustainable production requirements, TÜRKAK’s step forward is seen as a milestone in accelerating Türkiye’s green transformation and improving alignment with European markets.

In addition to ISO 14067, TÜRKAK also offers accreditation services under other critical environmental standards, including ISO 14064 (Greenhouse Gas Verification), ISO 14046 (Water Footprint), and PEFC (Sustainable Forest Management). In this way, TÜRKAK contributes to ensuring that activities such as greenhouse gas verification, water footprint calculation, and sustainable forest management in Türkiye are carried out under internationally recognized assurance.

Supporting Türkiye’s Green Transformation

By expanding its accreditation activities in environmental management and climate change, TÜRKAK continues to support Türkiye’s green transition and contributes to enhancing the global competitiveness of national organizations.
