ISO / IEC 17025: 2017 Revision TURKAK Transition Policy

ISO/IEC 17025: 2005  is revised by the ISO Conformity Assessment Committee (CASCO) 44th Working Group in cooperation with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Committee (IEC). The standard is revised to ensure that the changes in the market, the latest developments in technology and the requirements of modern market demands are met. ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 The General Requirements for Qualification of Testing and Calibration Laboratories standard is published as of November 30, 2017. The ISO / IEC 17025: 2017 standard applies to all conformity assessment bodies conducting laboratory activities irrespective of the number of personnel.

Transition of conformity assessment bodies (accredited or applied/will apply to be accredited by TURKAK) to ISO / IEC 17025: 2017 will be provided as follows:

a - New applications to be made in accordance with ISO / IEC 17025: 2005 will be accepted by 1 October 2018, after which applications to be made will be made in accordance with ISO / IEC 17025: 2017 standard.

b- Until October 1, 2018, assessments of the conformity assessment bodies that have applied for ISO / IEC 17025: 2005 standard will be carried out according to this standard. The first surveillance and / or scope extension assessments to be carried out to these CABs will be done according to the ISO / IEC 17025: 2017 standard.

c- Testing and Calibration Laboratories accredited by TURKAK should complete their preparations by 1 October 2018 and all surveillance, scope extension or reaccreditation assessments to be carried out after this date shall be carried out according to ISO / IEC 17025: 2017 standard.

In the transition period ISO / IEC 17025: 2005 and ISO / IEC 17025: 2017 are equally valid and applicable. CABs that wish to be accredited and are accredited can access the new standard from the Turkish Standards Institute as of 18.12.2017.

Fundamental changes in ISO / IEC 17025: 2017:

- Standard articles in accordance with the ISO / CASCO document structure (Articles 4-8),

- Definition of test, calibration and sampling (related to test or calibration) as laboratory activity under the standard

- Adoption of risk and opportunity-based approach,

- More emphasis on impartiality and confidentiality,

- Combining the purchase of services and materials, and subcontracting of tests and calibrations under a single article,

- Adding decision rule,

- Clarification of metrological traceability,
